Vet assistants provide all types of animal care for veterinary offices, clinics, boarding facilities and shelters. This is a great entry level career for anyone who loves animals and working with people. Veterinary assistants are responsible for keeping animals  clean and safe. They are often the first point of contact with clients, and as such, set the tone for their experience. This program combines lecture, and theory in the classroom with an internship requirement at nearby professional facilities. This program is NAVTA approved. Students who complete the class and internship may sit for the Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) exam for certification and to earn advanced standing at Bergen Community College's Veterinary Technician program.
