Veterinary assistants provide all types of animal care for veterinary offices, clinics, boarding facilities and shelters. This is a great entry level program for anyone seeking to start a career working with animals and their humans.
Veterinary assistants are responsible for keeping animals clean and safe. They are often the first point of contact for clients, and as such set the tone for their experience. This course combines lecture, theory and instructor-led labs in class and on-site at professional locations. Only those students who successfully complete this course are eligible to take the Veterinary Assistant Externship course. This course meets 2 days a week: Wednesday evening 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday morning 9:00am to noon.
PREREQUISITES: High school diploma or equivalent; appropriate score on the Pre-Entrance Assessment.
