Training takes place in the classroom and on the road in a school bus. The program was designed by drivers to make students comfortable behind the wheel, confident in their skills and prepared for the rigors of a job that is high in demand - that of transporting precious school children. The 10 session course includes everything the student needs to know to pass the CDL Road Test - pre-trip vehicle inspection, basic vehicle control skills, school bus specific controls and on-road driving. The actual MVC road test will be on a separate date outside of the session dates. Please note that despite the successful completion of the class, a criminal background check is required by the Department of Education once a promise of employment is offered. Students will work in groups.
PREREQUISITES: Valid School Bus Driver's CDL Permit; must be at least 21 years old; possess a valid driver's license with minimum of 3 years driving experience with no history of DUI/DWI or felonies.
